Custom glazed vanity

Custom Glazed Vanity

The Vision

We are open to building items that aren’t just furniture. From millwork to front doors, anything is possible. Our customer came to us with a need for a custom sized vanity, that she wanted just the right custom paint finish on. One key to painting a piece, is recommending a wood that is close-grained like a maple. Often, customers want to paint the orange oak cabinets that were popular in the 90’s. Oak is an open grain wood, which makes it difficult to achieve smooth finish, without any grain.

The Outcome

After constructing out of maple, it was sprayed with an off white paint as the base coat. Our customer wanted to take it one step further and add a black glaze to give it some contrast and an elegant look. Thankfully, we found a piece of granite that blended seamlessly with the color of the cabinet and tied the whole piece together.
